Seven News Brisbane appointments

Dante Ceccon becomes Deputy News Director and Ally Cullen is 6.00pm Line Up Producer.

Seven News Brisbane has appointed Dante Ceccon as Deputy News Director and Ally Cullen as 6.00pm Line Up Producer.

Newly-installed Director 7NEWS Brisbane and Gold Coast, Michael Coombes, who commenced his role on Thursday, said, “I’m thrilled to confirm these key appointments for two thoroughly deserving and hardworking members of our team.

“Dante brings a steady, calm head to the role while Ally’s news sense is second to none. They work extremely well together and will make a formidable team on the production desk.”

Network Director of News and Public Affairs, Craig McPherson, said: “These appointments cement the future of 7NEWS in the all-important Queensland market.

“After six years under Neil Warren, Michael Coombes’ elevation is very much deserved. He is more than ready for the always challenging role of leading a newsroom and he inherits an extremely talented and driven team which he has been central to.

“With Dante and Ally by his side and Max Futcher, Sharyn Ghidella, Shane Webcke and Tony Auden at the forefront of our product, we’re in great shape to deliver Queensland the news they deserve.”

Michael Coombes’ appointment to Brisbane follows Neil Warren becoming Sydney News Director.

  1. For seven, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth are consistently in the win column. Brisbane and Sydney are closer than prior years but more often than not go to nine. I assume these appointments are duly considered as a fair bit at stake.

  2. Now all they need to do IMO is rein in Katrina Blowers a bit with her opinionated opinions on a lot of news items she reads, plus less narration and emphasis on nearly every word on the news items she read…it’s like listening to a kids audiobook being read 😴 …all the rest I enjoy because they just say it how it is….and their reporter Steve Hart is a great journalist…with a big heart.
